Krept & Konan debut album on it’s way!
Hip-Hop duo Krept & Konan announced back in March that their highly anticipated label debut will arrive in stores this summer. Already available to pre-order via iTunes the pair has definitely got us holding our breaths for this one.
‘The Long Way Home’ is scheduled to hit stores July 6th, with an all-star line-up; they aim to bridge the gap between the UK and the USA music scene. American heavyweight rappers such as, Rick Ross, Jeremih, YG and Wiz Khalifa standout on the track list, as well as homegrown acts like Skepta, Ed Sheeran and Emeli Sande. Whilst appearances from our own are expected, it’s by no means overlooked. Both Emeli and Ed have had number one albums in both countries, and Skepta is a legend within his own right. Who can forget his speech at last year’s MOBO Awards, after winning ‘Best Video Award’? Konan’s mum even makes an appearance on what seems to be an interlude, which doesn’t get any cooler.
Anyway, my only concern for the duo is that I don’t want the moment to be lost. Often we’ve heard the phrase ‘strike whilst the iron is hot’ meaning take advantage while you can. With such a far release date, it is crucial that they keep the momentum going before anyone loses interest. We’ve seen countless times before when musicians singles and albums don’t do as well as it could’ve, had they not missed that window of opportunity.
It’s all well and good shifting responsibility onto the artists when things like this occur. But, you do have to consider PR, management, label and the A&R men who have to believe and invest in a project. Without it, no backing, funding or support I mean; you can’t expect much.
Doing a few shows here and there, around the country and even making guest appearances, I’m hoping serious album promotion kicks in ASAP! Interviews, hosting, and literally anything they can get their hands on. Preferably by the time I finish this post… – They’ve JUST announced a tour. Perfect timing or what?
With tickets on sale and tour tickets released and the album release round the corner, I just hope it’s getting the promotion it deserves.
I need a second single (if ‘Certified’ is the first), to be released, preferably the one with Emeli or Ed; and then an accompanying visual for it, and one for ‘Certified’ quickly following. ‘Certified could go to urban stations, whilst the former could go to “mainstream”, as they say, providing that it’s a good Rap/Sung collaboration.
Either way I’m waiting for this because they’re good at what they do, and also because I support UK talent. I’ll be seeing them in July so we will see.
